  • Look for keyword phrases
Finding key terms or phrases would help you respond quickly and save time rather than trying to decipher each word.
  • It's All About the Approach
To improve your reading comprehension, you should first assess your abilities and then plan your strategy accordingly. Although the traditional method is to read first and then answer the questions, you can also go through the questions first and then read the passage. This will assist you in determining what to look for in the passage. Otherwise, you'll be squandering valuable time. However, this approach is not suitable for all candidates. Vocabulary or word awareness is needed to complete the comprehension portion. You will only be able to answer the questions posed if you grasp the concept of the passage. So, read journals, textbooks, novels, and other materials that introduce you to new and complex terms and phrases to improve your vocabulary.
  • Obtain the gist
Make sure you recognize the keywords quickly and remember to underline them when reading comprehension. This will make it easier for you to get to the core concept and choose the correct answer. When you're finding useful terms, make a mental note of the meaningless phrases and words so you don't spend too much time thinking about their meaning. This will save you a lot of time.

Candidates believe they would not be able to pass this segment due to the vocabulary, comprehension issues, and time constraints. Rather than answering all of the questions, figure out how high you need to score to meet the cut-off in this section and react accordingly. This will allow you to save time, score higher, and properly concentrate on the other parts.
During the test, choose shorter questions and on a subject, you are familiar with. Knowing the difference between formal and casual tone will also help you relate to the definition better. When reading the chapter, keep your attention on the material and don't get distracted. Reading the first and last paragraphs will help you find the gist or key idea. To find the meaning of a sentence or word in a vocabulary query, look at the context in which it is used. Finally, remember to increase your reading pace to save time.
