CAT Result 2024:The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta recently announced the results of the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024. Aspiring management students who appeared for the exam can now access their scorecards by logging into the official CAT website using their application credentials.
A total of 3.29 lakh candidates had registered for the exam, out of which 2.93 lakh candidates appeared for the test. The exam saw significant dominance from engineering students and male candidates, with a notable performance by both groups. Of the 14 candidates who achieved a perfect score of 100 percentile, 13 were engineers. Additionally, out of the 14 top scorers, 13 were male and just one female.
The results showed a high concentration of exceptional performers among engineering students. 29 candidates achieved a 99.99 percentile, with 25 of them being from an engineering background and the remaining 4 from non-engineering fields. This group also had a significant gender disparity, with 27 male candidates and only 2 female candidates. In total, 30 candidates secured a 99.98 percentile.
The registered candidates for CAT 2024 consisted of a diverse group. A majority, 67.53%, belonged to the General category, followed by 16.91% from the NC-OBC category, 8.51% from the SC category, 2.25% from the ST category, 4.80% from the EWS category, and 0.44% from the PwD category. Among the 2.93 lakh candidates who appeared for the exam, 67.20% were from the General category.
Following the release of the results, IIMs will soon publish shortlists for the next stage of the admissions process. These shortlists will be based on candidates' CAT scores and additional criteria specific to each IIM. In addition to the prestigious IIMs, 86 other non-IIM institutions will also accept the CAT 2024 scores for their management programs. As such, candidates are advised to carefully check the registration status of the institutions they are interested in applying to on the official CAT website.
The announcement of the CAT results marks the first step for many aspirants toward securing a seat in one of the country's leading business schools. With the highly competitive nature of the exam, the release of these scores is an important milestone for students aiming for top management programs.
