So first know about two important terms, first, Digital marketing and second, social media. Digital marketing also known as online marketing is an enhanced version of traditional marketing in which products are promoted and advertised online with the help of social media. Now, the question is, what is social media, so social media is an online platform where the people of the world interact, converse, share resources, and enjoy moments. see videos and many more it is called social because people make friends here and connect socially with each other.

Some examples of social media platforms are Twitter ( where tweets are sent on the platform), Instagram ( where reels, stories, and pics are sent to each other or in public), and Facebook ( same as Instagram).

Both Facebook and Instagram are created by Meta. And at last, Youtube is also a social media platform where creators create videos and shorts and publish them in public and the audience as viewers see it for the sake of entertainment but when you watch a video you may see some videos before the main video of 15 seconds and unskippable or 2 minutes but skippable so what are these video, these videos are youtube ads. Yes, and these ads are published to get traffic on their website and they promote their products in this process. But you can only able to see these ads on large YouTube channels that have large traffic, a large number of subscribers, or a large number of views on their video because the advertiser who wants to promote his/her products pays a charge to the publisher. After all, the advertiser directly uses the traffic of the publisher which he creates with his hard work so this is the short brief of YouTube ads. Now talk about some statistics and analytics of YouTube ads and their linkage with digital marketing:

  • The current downloaders of YouTube apps reached 100 billion this year which shows that almost all smartphones have YouTube.
  • Each month 2.5 billion people use YouTube daily.
  • A global advertising revenue of $31.5 billion was generated by YouTube in 2023.
  • A paid YouTube mobile ad can draw the attention of people 84% more than a T.V. advertisement.
  • 30% of B2C marketers use YouTube for social media marketing.
  • 98% of B2C marketers said that YouTube marketing is the best and most effective for digital marketing of their products.
These are some stats with the help of which we can conclude that YouTube ads become a more effective and best way for digital marketers to market and can benefit from such a large audience of YouTube. Now let's go in some deep about YouTube ads and their uses in digital marketing so let's see.

2.  Setting up your YouTube ad campaign

  • Creating a Google Ads account: First of all, create an account on Google Ads or sign up for a Google account.
  • Linking your YouTube channel: To link your YouTube channel with Google ads, go to setup and click on linking accounts, select YouTube enter your YouTube details, and verify ownership, now, your YouTube account is linked with Google ads.
  • Setting campaign objectives: Now set some campaign objectives like what your objective behind running the ad like you want lead generation, traffic creation, or brand awareness, and what type of conversion you want like purchasing goods, downloading a game, or filling out the form.

3. Targeting your audience

To target your audience first you should match your audience with the products that you want to advertise because every person has their unique interests, fashion, behavior, demographics, location, culture, etc. If your product's ad reaches such a person who has no interest in it or it is different for him because of his location, culture, etc. he/she just ignores the ad. For example: If you are a boy, and you see an ad on YouTube about a saree it is not of your use and you ignore it or if you are a girl, and you see an ad for a coat-pant you also ignore it, so you must redefine audience taste and interest. You can also make a custom audience for each of your products but before that do proper research.

4.  Crafting Attractive Ad Content

While creating appealing, and compelling ad content we should check its length and format. its length and format should be limited because a long ad seems to be boring for the viewer and they may ignore it. its format should be formal and attractive to the viewer. Its video and audio quality should be clear because if they can't hear or see the ads properly then your ads would be believed to be useless and your ad can't deliver the message which you want to convey to the audience. Your ad should be promotional and always advertise something that is in the favour of the audience and promote your brand, In other words, it should be related to brand awareness.

5. Budget Creation

Budget creation is an important part of YouTube ads because if we don't plan a budget before, we might face problems in the future like a shortage of funds or excess of funds so to set a budget we might keep in mind some important terms. The first term is CPV, The full form of CPV is cost per view which means the cost that advertisers spend on one view or in other words the cost spent each time the ad of an advertiser is viewed by the viewer. For example: If an advertiser spends 100 rupees of budget on a YouTube ad and the ad is viewed by 10 people on a whole budget it means that according to the formula of CPV that is the Total budget spent divided by total views our CPV according to the formula is 100/10 = 10 rupees per view. The second important term is CPM which stands for cost per mile it means how much cost the advertiser spends on each 1000 impressions. its formula is the Total budget spent divided by the Total number of impressions divided by 1000. For example, if an advertiser spends 100 rupees and gets 2000 impressions it means according to the formula first divide 2000 by 1000 which means 2, and again divide 100 rupees by 2 and the answer is 50 rupees spent per 1000 views. We should be trying to minimize the CPV and CPM.     Now we understand all things about YouTube ads, how they work, what are its benefits, how we can run our ads, and how we can prepare a budget for YouTube ads. Now still some marketers make some common mistakes which are as follows: They ignore SEO they don't use keywords, meta titles descriptions, etc., and they can't make the proper audience for their products and their ads can't become successful, their audio and video quality is also very poor and they make ad either too long or too short.
